DAY 1: Wednesday 24th august, 2022
MELBOURNE TO SUNSHINE COAST

Welcome to our holiday to the beautiful Sunshine Coast and the World Heritage Listed Fraser Island. With chauffeured pickup from home, we travel to Melbourne Airport, where we’ll be greeted by an O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours representative who will assist us with check in, and see us onto the plane for our direct flight. Upon our arrival to the Sunshine Coast, we will be welcomed by our coach crew who will assist us with our luggage, before we board the coach, for a relaxing drive to Noosa.  We will arrive in time to explore the resort and unpack before our first dinner together.

Lunch at own expense and arrangement / Refreshments on flight

OVERNIGHT:  RACV Resort, NOOSA

day 2: thursday 25th august, 2022
SUNSHINE COAST

Our first morning takes us to the beachside town of Mooloolaba, to visit Sea Life Sunshine Coast – the largest oceanarium in the Southern Hemisphere. We enjoy the amazing aquarium and ride on their moving footways through clear underwater tunnels to watch the tropical fish, huge stingrays and sharks. Next door is the Mooloolaba Wharf, where we board a Luncheon Cruise on the Mooloolaba River, Harbour and canals viewing our famous Fishing Fleet, Pilot Boats and Recreational vessels. View Steve Irwin's marine research vessel 'Croc One' and enjoy the sights of the Minyama mansions along Millionaires row. This afternoon, we visit the Queensland Air Museum. There are more than 75 historic aircraft and many aviation related displays. We then return to our accommodation in for dinner.

OVERNIGHT:  RACV Resort, NOOSA

DAY 3: friday 26th august, 2022
AUSTRALIA ZOO

No visit to the Sunshine Coast would be complete without a visit to Australia Zoo in Beerwah. The Zoo is a tourism award facility on the Sunshine Coast that has a reputation for conservation work, due mainly to the popularity of the documentary series “the Crocodile Hunter”. Many millions of dollars have been invested in the park so that it is an ever changing and growing attraction. It is a journey of discovery and adventure with giant snakes, majestic elephants, colourful birds and prehistoric crocs. We take our seats in the “Crocoseum” for all the action in the center stage. The keepers will bring the Crocodiles into the clear water so we can see them. There are many other scheduled demonstrations during the day, including the chance to be photographed with a giant python or tigers. A people mover is available to access various parts of the park. Mid afternoon we drive back to our accommodation.

Lunch at own expense and arrangement

OVERNIGHT:  RACV Resort, NOOSA

DAY 4: saturday 27th august, 2022
EUMUNDI MARKETS AND FAMOUS LOCAL PRODUCE

The famous Eumundi Markets is our first stop today. The twice weekly street markets held every Saturday and Wednesday “rain, hail or shine”, are as popular with the locals as they are with visitors to the Sunshine Coast. 300 stalls of various handcrafts and produce are controlled by a strict market policy – you can sell your goods if you “can make it, bake it, sew it or grow it”. We will spend most of the morning at the markets before traveling to the Buderim Ginger Factory, now operating in Yandina. Our guided tour around the factory will show us how ginger is grown, harvested and turned into a delicious range of Buderim Ginger products. Time for tasting some of their products, before taking a stroll around the lovely gardens. The ginger icecream is a real treat! From here we can walk across the road to the Macadamia Nut Factory for some more tastings (and buying). After a great day out, we return to our accommodation.

Lunch at own expense and arrangement

OVERNIGHT:  RACV Resort, NOOSA

DAY 5: sunday 28th august, 2022
SUNSHINE COAST HINTERLAND

After a leisurely breakfast, we enjoy the scenic drive via Nambour up to the beautiful Blackall Range. As we traverse along the top of the Range, we should have lovely views looking out of the coastline of the Sunshine Coast. We spend time in Montville, probably the most well known village along the top of the Blackall Range. First established in 1887, Montville today is a place to step back in time and enjoy the tranquility of village life in a streetscape unique to any other tourist centre in Australia. After a great morning, we continue along the range through to Maleny, stopping at the new Information Centre at the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve. The viewing point overlooks the unique formations of the Glasshouse Mountains – spectacular – don’t forget to bring the camera! Some may enjoy a amble through the beautiful rainforest. Our last stop on the range is at the Maleny Botanic Gardens & Bird world. Stroll through the lush, verdant gardens, and spend time with their stunning native and international birds. We descend back down the range and back to our accommodation.

OVERNIGHT:  RACV Resort, NOOSA

DAY 6: monday 29th august, 2022
SUNSHINE COAST TO FRASER ISLAND

We pack our bags this morning, and travel to Hervey Bay, where we’ll board the Kingfisher Bay Ferry/barge for the ride over to the World Heritage Fraser Island for the next 3 nights. Relax and enjoy the sunset with a complimentary drink before dinner.

OVERNIGHT:  Kingfisher Bay Resort, Fraser Island

DAY 7: tuesday 30th august, 2022
4WD TOUR OF FRASER ISLAND

After breakfast we set out to explore the island, including a drive along the famous “highway” of 75 Mile Beach. We use a 4WD Touring Coach for access to the many island sights including Lake McKenzie, one of the 40 perched lakes found on the island. With its clear, blue fresh water and white sandy shores, Lake McKenzie covers an area of 150 hectares and is over 5m in depth. Perched high in a sand dune, it is 100m above sea level. At Central Station, the historic heart of Fraser Island, we’ll see the original headquarters of the island’s forestry operations. From 1920 to the late 1950s, it was the logging village from days when tree felling was permitted here. It was also once home to around 30 houses and a school which was built for the children of the loggers. Today the picnic area reflects the island’s forestry past. The mature Kauri Pines, Bunya Pines, Satinays and Flooded Gums were planted 95 years ago to create a display botanical garden. This afternoon we head out to see Eli Creek, where we have the opportunity to swim in the cool, fresh water of the island’s largest creek, before stopping for lunch at Eurong Beach Resort for lunch. Next stop is Maheno Shipwreck, the hospital ship having been blown ashore during a cyclone - whilst being towed to Japan! After our interesting day we return to the resort for dinner.

OVERNIGHT:  Kingfisher Bay Resort, Fraser Island

DAY 8: wednesday 31st august, 2022
WHALE WATCHING CRUISE

This morning will be a highlight of our tour as we head off in search of migrating Humpback Whales with a Whale Watch cruise. Seeing a whale in the wild is the experience of a lifetime and one of the easiest and safest places to watch whales is in the Hervey Bay National Marine Park. This area is regarded as the whale watch capital of the world, because of the number of whales and the calm, clear waters sheltered by Fraser Island which provide excellent viewing. Be sure to take a camera! This afternoon is free to enjoy the resort’s facilities or explore the K’Garie World Heritage Centre before we meet up again for a Bush tucker talk and taste experience. Tonight we enjoy a bush tucker infused menu as our farewell dinner at the resort.

Lunch at own arrangements and cost

OVERNIGHT:  Kingfisher Bay Resort, Fraser Island

DAY 9: thursday 1st september, 2022
