ITINERARY
DAY 1: friday 23rd september, 2022
MELBOURNE TO LAKES ENTRANCE
We have a wonderful tour planned for our tour to the Canberra Floriade. With chauffeured pickup from home, we are transferred to meet our O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours coach and crew. We enjoy a tour of the Traralgon Vineyard, followed by lunch. This afternoon we continue our journey through the Latrobe Valley and across Gippsland. We have an afternoon stop at Bairnsdale and an opportunity to visit the magnificent St. Marys Cathedral with its intricately painted murals which span the ceiling. We arrive in beautiful Lakes Entrance with plenty of time for a walk to inspect the nearby bollards. Our excellent accommodation is adjacent to the Cunninghame Arm Inlet.

LAKES ENTRANCE TO CANBERRA
This morning we travel through Eastern Gippsland. We cross the Snowy River and take a drive through the little town of Orbost before our morning tea stop at Cann River. A scenic drive takes us north into NSW stopping for lunch in Nimmitable, situated high on the Monaro Plain in the Snowy Mountains region. We enjoy an afternoon break in Cooma, the administrative centre for the Snowy Mountains Scheme and arrive at our accommodation in Canberra. Our home for the next three nights, with time to unpack relax before dinner.

CANBERRA SIGHTSEEING
This morning we enjoy a tour of Canberra. Incorporated into the tour is a drive through the grounds of Duntroon, the Royal Military College established in 1911. Of particular interest to many is the Changi Chapel. We also take in spectacular views over Canberra from Mount Ainslie Lookout. We will learn of the International Embassies and High Commissions as we pass by in the coach. Another highlight today includes a visit to the Old Parliament House and then lunch and a tour of New Parliament House. Mid-afternoon we visit the Australian War Memorial to wander at our own pace through this sombre and uplifting memorial, unveiling the sacrifices made by the women and men who served in war. We stay for the very moving Last Post Ceremony before returning to our hotel.

Floriade Community was introduced in 2020 as part of Floriade: Reimagined and saw more than 80 community groups plant bulbs and annuals to help create a tulip trail through Canberra’s suburbs. Following the overwhelmingly positive community response, an additional 300,000 bulbs and annuals have been made available for the community to plant, nurture and enjoy. This year’s event is going to be just – stunning!! With a leisurely start we spend this morning at the Floriade. Adjacent to Lake Burley Griffin, this outdoor venue has acres of stunning displays. Be inspired and get ideas from experts in the field. We will have the opportunity to purchase lunch from the food stalls at the Floriade. This afternoon we have time to visit the National Gallery and Portrait Gallery.

This morning we enjoy a wander through the Australian National Botanical Gardens before we travel out to the famous world in miniature “Cockington Green”. Cockington Green is one of Canberra’s landmark attractions and offers visitors a unique experience. We will see a delightful display of meticulously crafted miniature buildings set within beautifully landscaped gardens. This afternoon we board the coach and travel down to Albury for our last night together.

An easy day today, the highlight being our locally guided tour of historic Beechworth. After our tour we cross the Oxley Plains to Benalla for lunch. We return to Melbourne to complete a wonderful tour. As always, our chauffeurs will await our arrival to return us safely home.

Victorian passengers from Greater Melbourne, Bendigo, Torquay, Ballarat, Geelong, the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas, Phillip Island and selected areas of Gippsland will be picked up from home in a private chauffeured vehicle by one of our professional drivers.
For Victorian passengers not within this pick up zone, or our interstate passengers a quote can be provided for home pickup in extended areas. At the end of your tour, you will be safely returned home with memories of a sensational tour.
Luxury Touring Coaches
Our full size, 3 axle luxury coaches have only 32-36 passenger seats allowing you even more personal space and extra leg room. Our coaches are fitted with comfortable reclining seats with aisle arm rests, foot rests, seat belts, panoramic windows with blinds, refrigerator for passenger use, restroom, climate control air conditioning and Road Cam monitors which display the road ahead in real time. Each coach has a second door for easier entry and exit and touchless hand sanitizer dispensers at each entry to help keep everyone safe. Our coaches have full air suspension delivering a smooth and quiet ride which also allows us to lower the coach closer to the ground, making boarding and disembarking even easier.

PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICY
Receipt of payment of funds will be taken as acceptance of O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours conditions of travel for this tour. Prices include GST and all taxes.
Deposit is fully refundable until 46 days prior to departure date.
Balance due on invoice approximately 45 days prior to departure.
Cancellation 45 to 8 days before tour departure date, 20% Refund of Tour Cost.
Cancellation within 7 days of tour departure date, No Refund.
On or after tour date departure, No Refund.
If a tour is cancelled for any reason by O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours before the departure date, all passengers will be offered the option of transferring to another tour of their choice, hold the funds in trust for a future tour or a full refund. There is no time limit as to when this must be used. If a lockdown is implemented while a tour is in progress, our first priority is the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and ensuring that we get each and every one of them home safely, and therefore we treat every situation individually. It is a condition of travel that all passengers must be fully vaccinated against COVID19 unless medically exempt, and confirmation must be provided to our office upon payment of your invoice/booking.
