  • DAY 1: SATURDAY 16TH MARCH, 2024

    MELBOURNE TO KOTA KINABALU


    Welcome to our fascinating tour to Borneo! Our chauffeurs will collect us for the transfer to Melbourne International Airport where we meet our fellow passengers, ready to board our flight to Kota Kinabalu via Brunei. On our arrival in Sabah, we are welcomed by our local English-speaking guide and board the coach for our transfer to the Hyatt Centric, our home for the next 3 nights. This vibrant hotel is in the Heart of Kota Kinabalu – the gateway to the start of Sabah in Borneo, East Malaysia.

  • DAY 2: SUNDAY 17TH MARCH, 2024

    EXPLORING KOTA KINABALU


    Following a delicious breakfast, we embark on a city tour. The tour includes a brief visit to Tanjung Lipat, which offers panoramic scenery of Gaya Island, the South China Sea and Tun Mustapha Tower. We proceed to the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque, recognized as one of the most beautiful mosques in Malaysia. We then visit the Puh Toh Tze Buddhist Temple before we stop at the Sabah State Museum where we can discover Sabah’s unique heritage. This afternoon, we visit Mari-Mari Cultural Village. Here, we’ll try some delectable traditional and fusion cuisines in the dining hall. We may shop for handicrafts, take photos or just enjoy the natural surroundings. We’ll visit each tribe’s traditional house to learn about the ancient cultures and take part in some in-house activities. Lastly, we take in a cultural performance. We enjoy dinner out this evening before our transfer back to the hotel.

  • DAY 3: MONDAY 18TH MARCH, 2024

    RIVER SAFARI


    We have the morning at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities—perhaps have a swim in the rooftop pool! Maybe explore by ourselves - our hotel is conveniently located in town within walking distance to a mall and local shops. This afternoon, we depart on our journey towards Weston. Sit back and enjoy the scenery. We transfer to the river lodge by boat and after high tea, we embark on a River Safari to search for the Proboscis Monkeys. Seeing the lovely views of the fishing villages, flying flocks of egrets and the reddish-fire sunset will be memorable experiences throughout the boat journey. Upon our return to the lodge, we enjoy a scrumptious dinner. Later, we take the fireflies river cruise, before returning to Kota Kinabalu. What an amazing day!

  • DAY 4: TUESDAY 19TH MARCH, 2024

    KOTA KINABALU TO SANDAKAN


    This morning, we transfer to the airport for our domestic flight to Sandakan. Here, we begin our touring with a visit to one of the major town markets; here we will see the locals trading a wide array of food items such as fish, snacks, fruits and other consumer products. Next, we will visit the Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple which is located on the hilltop and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Sandakan Bay. Then we will proceed to visit the St. Michael's and All Angels Church for a brief history of one the oldest buildings in Sandakan. Our next stop will be the historical Agnes Keith House, formerly home to the famous American author who penned the book ‘Land Below the Wind’. Afterward, we take you to explore Sim Sim Water Village, a unique floating village with houses built on stilts. Finally, our tour also includes a visit to the Sandakan War Memorial; created to commemorate the World War II events that took place in Sandakan and North Borneo.

  • DAY 5: WEDNESDAY 20TH MARCH, 2024

    CUTENESS OVERLOAD!


    Our first stop this morning is one we’ve all been looking forward to - the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. We start our visit with a video about the plight of the Orang utans and the rehabilitation efforts ongoing at the Centre. We walk through the rainforest on wooden boardwalks to witness the feeding of the orang utans and then we continue to the newly completed enclosed nursery area for young orang utans. Next is a visit to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to learn about the conservation of the world’s smallest bear. We then depart for an overland  journey to the multi award winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge. We take an afternoon river cruise in search of wildlife and birds. This evening, we enjoy a delicious dinner overlooking the riverbank followed by a slide presentation and interpretation by a naturalist guide.

  • DAY 6: THURSDAY 21ST MARCH, 2024

    SUKAU RAINFOREST


    This morning we have a wonderful early morning cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap Oxbow Lake, taking advantage of the best time of the day and seeing amazing birds and wildlife. After breakfast we take part in a walking tour along the lodge’s Hornbill Boardwalk with our in-house naturalist and later an informative Orang Utan talk. This afternoon we look forward to more river cruising and incredible wildlife spotting, be sure to bring your camera.

  • DAY 7: FRIDAY 22ND MARCH, 2024

    SUKAU TO RANAU


    Today we depart from Sukau Rainforest Lodge as we make our way towards Ranau and our next destination, Sabah Tea Resort. This is a sprawling tea plantation surrounded by pristine rainforest with cool mountain air. For our stay here we will be treated to the background of Mount Kinabalu and the beautiful morning sunrise and misty dews.

  • DAY 8: SATURDAY 23RD MARCH, 2024

    RANAU TO KUNDASANG


    After breakfast, we visit a tea factory. No trip to the Sabah Tea Resort would be complete without a taste of Sabah’s finest tea! Enjoy freshly brewed tea or get a few packs of tea leaves as souvenirs. We continue our drive to Poring where we’ll get to walk amidst the tropical rainforests that lead up to the treetop canopy walkways. We will enjoy lunch before visiting Kipungit Waterfall for a nice dip or take a rejuvenating soak in the steamy sulphur public pools.

  • DAY 9: SUNDAY 24TH MARCH, 2024

    KUNDASANG TO KOTA KINABALU


    After breakfast, we head to Kundasang War Memorial Park to learn about Sabah's WWII history. If the weather is good, well be able to snap a really great photo of the majestic Mount Kinabalu. We then visit the Kinabalu Geopark Gallery and Botanical Garden in Kinabalu Park Headquarters. If weather permits, we will take a guided walk on one of the trails to explore the cool montane forest. We then drive back to Kota Kinabalu for our final night’s accommodation at the stunning resort in Tuaran (north Kota Kinabalu).

  • DAY 10: MONDAY 25TH MARCH, 2024

    DEPART KOTA KINABALU


    After a leisurely breakfast we have the rest of the morning to enjoy all the resort has to offer. Explore the lush rainforests and the flora and fauna that call the resort home with specially created nature trails, have a game of tennis, or soak up the sun with a cool dip in the swimming pool. This afternoon, we transfer to Kota Kinabalu Airport for our flight home.

  • DAY 11: TUESDAY 26TH MARCH , 2024

    ARRIVE MELBOURNE


    Our flight has us arriving into Melbourne in the morning. After completing Customs and Immigration, our chauffeurs will be waiting for us in the arrival lounge to take us safely home.  We’re sure you will arrive home with a sense of well-being, appreciation and love for Sabah, Borneo.

Receipt of payment of funds will be taken as acceptance of O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours conditions of travel for this tour. Prices include GST and all taxes.

Any booking after this date will require full payment on booking.

Cancellation 100 days before tour departure date No Refund


If a tour is cancelled for any reason by O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours before the departure date, all passengers will be offered the option of transferring to another tour of their choice, hold the funds in trust for a future tour or a full refund. There is no time limit as to when this must be used. If a lockdown is implemented while a tour is in progress, our first priority is the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and ensuring that we get each and every one of them home safely, and therefore we treat every situation individually.
