ITINERARY

  • DAY 1: Wednesday 24th March, 2027

    MELBOURNE TO SHEPPARTON

Welcome to our tour to celebrate Easter at the Griffith Easter Party. With chauffeured pickup from home, we are transferred to meet our O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours coach and crew. We stop enroute for our morning break before travelling to Seymour, known in history for its gold rush days, military presence and railway service. While here we are in for a truly special experience at the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre, home to an impressive collection of historic rollingstock spanning more than a century, including royal and vice-regal carriages. We start with a wonderful site tour and walk through their lovely old carriages followed by a special lunch aboard the 1937 Spirit of Progress dining car. Although stationary, we can still appreciate the old-worldly charm. Thanking our hosts, we then head to Shepparton for our first night’s accommodation.

OVERNIGHT: Quality Hotel Parklake Shepparton, SHEPPARTON

  • DAY 2: Thursday 25th March, 2027

    SHEPPARTON TO GRIFFITH

This morning we travel via the Art Silo in Picola to Strathmerton for our visit to Cactus Country. The Hall family run business has been a labour of love for many years, which we will hear about before a self-guided walk through this large garden with over 4,000 different species of cacti from Africa, North America, Mexico and South America. After morning tea of cactus cake, we make our way to Jerilderie - the only NSW town raided by bushranger Ned Kelly and his gang. Here we uncover the story of Ned Kelly at The Old Printery Building and The Bolt Exhibition and enjoy lunch. We spend the rest of the afternoon travelling to Griffith where we settle in for the next four nights.

    OVERNIGHT: Kidman Wayside Inn, GRIFFITH

  • DAY 3: Friday 26th March, 2027

    GOOD FRIDAY IN GRIFFITH

This morning, we head to the Griffith Tourism Hub where we’ll find an interesting interpretive display, seven-minute visual presentation and a wonderful gift shop stocked with a large range of regional produce. We are then met by our local expert who will take us on a guided tour off the coach of this wonderful town. Next, we visit the Griffith Pioneer Park Museum for the annual Easter celebration – Good Friday Action Day. Step back in time to enjoy a range of events including steam engines, farm machinery and vintage cars. The first Action Day was held over 50 years ago; since then, Action Day has grown and become a wonderful opportunity to showcase the museum and enjoy the cultural experiences offered on the day. After a fantastic day we return to our hotel to relax before dinner.

Lunch at own arrangements and expense

    OVERNIGHT:  Kidman Wayside Inn, GRIFFITH

  • DAY 4: Saturday 27th March, 2027

    MORE OF GRIFFITH

Banna Avenue is the place to be on Saturday for the Sidewalk Sale where you can shop ‘til you drop. We have time to wander and pick up a bargain at the local retail stores along the sidewalk. Our next stop today is Rosewood Park on Stokes. Enveloped by vineyards and beautiful orange trees, this three-acre garden is full of blooms over arches and arbours. Shade-loving plants provide cool areas to stop and a gazebo nestled on a large pond filled with water lilies and irises is a welcome respite after a meander through the garden. This is also our lunch location. We head out of town for our final stop, Altina Wildlife Park, for a unique zoo-fari tour like no other. We will meet many rare and exotic as well as native

animals up close on this personal tour. After a fantastic day we return to Griffith.

    OVERNIGHT:  Kidman Wayside Inn, GRIFFITH

  • DAY 5: Sunday 28th March, 2027

    EASTER SUNDAY

We will have the morning free for those who would like to attend an Easter Sunday service. Mid-morning we head to Piccolo Family Farm and explore the stalls at the Easter Sunday Producers Market, showcasing local artisans, makers and produce. The remainder of the day is spent at De Bortoli Wines for their annual Celebrazione. Enjoy live music, delicious food and a friendly atmosphere as we celebrate the best of the Griffith Easter Party.

  • DAY 6: Monday 29th March, 2027

    GRIFFITH TO WANGARATTA

After a wonderful weekend enjoying the Griffith Easter Party, we begin the journey home. Heading to Narrandera, a charming, tree-lined town in the Riverina region, we visit the Destination and Discovery Hub to uncover more about the region while wandering its displays. Back on the open road, we stop at the Corowa Distilling Co to enjoy lunch and a tour of the distillery and heritage-listed flour mill, including an insight into making single malt whisky. Later this afternoon, we arrive at Wangaratta where we refresh before dinner.

OVERNIGHT: Quality Hotel Wangaratta Gateway, WANGARATTA

  • DAY 7: Tuesday 30th March, 2027

    WANGARATTA TO MELBOURNE

Leaving Wangaratta today we stop in the charming town of Marysville. Established in 1863 as a stopover for diggers on the way to nearby goldfields, the Black Saturday bushfires created another chapter of history in Marysville. We visit Bruno’s Art and Sculpture Gardens. The garden began with just 15 life-size terracotta sculptures; today there are over 115 pieces on display and Bruno is still making regular additions. This afternoon, we arrive in Melbourne. As always, our chauffeurs will be waiting to take us straight to our very door – a delightful way to finish our time away and all part of the great O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours service!
