Next we head off on a half-day Highland Paradise Tour known as “Footprints of our Ancestors”, where we discover magnificent King Tinomana’s life story and hidden mountain village. Brought to life by his descendants, the knowledgeable and entertaining guides will showcase their spiritual past and present, sharing ancient legends and practices. We also visit the village of Tinomana Enuarurutini Ariki, who left the settlement during the 1830’s when he and his people converted to Christianity. Some highlights of the tour are the Ancient Sacred Marae, Navigator’s Rock and the Maugaroa Learning Centre which features a fantastic collection of historical and contemporary artefacts.  Later this afternoon we return to the resort to enjoy the complimentary activities, relax in your room, by the pool, or in the games lounge. Tonight we enjoy dinner at Tamarind House, Rarotonga’s delightful eatery, owned by former Flame Tree restaurateur and cookbook author, Sue Carruthers, housed in a colonial building on the Pacific Ocean foreshore at Tupapa.

Witness the coral paradise through the glass bottomed boat or take the plunge and snorkel up close with the fish. We cruise to an uninhabited motu (islet) and indulge in a delicious barbecue lunch over an open fire. After a day of laughter, music and marine life, we return to the resort, where once again, we can take part in one of the complimentary activities or relax by the pool.  This evening we enjoy a progressive dinner which is a great opportunity to meet and chat with the locals!

Back at the resort, the rest of the day is free to enjoy the resort facilities or perhaps take yourself on the clockwise or anti-clockwise bus into the main shopping centre of Rarotonga for some last minute souvenirs or perhaps that black pearl you had your eye on!  Tonight we enjoy dinner at the resort.
