Dynnargh! - Welcome! - to our special 9 day Kernewek Lowender tour! After a personal pick up from our homes we transfer to meet our O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours crew and luxury coach to be on our way. We stop enroute for a morning tea break before continuing to Bridgewater on Loddon, where we enjoy lunch. This afternoon we make our way through Wedderburn and Charlton with an afternoon stop at Sea Lake. We’ll take a moment to view the beautiful silo art here before continuing to Mildura for our first night on tour.

THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN RIVERLAND

This morning we journey into South Australia. Stopping in Renmark, we visit the historic

Olivewood Homestead, a 1880s wooden-floored log cabin house originally designed for the Chaffey brothers. While here uncover the story behind this homestead as our guide leads the way on a tour of its various rooms before enjoying a delicious morning tea. Thanking our host we then continue to Morgan. At the height of the paddle-steamer era, Morgan was the busiest river port in South Australia. Following our lunch break, we continue to Burra, a town classified by the National Trust. Copper from Burra's “Monster Mine” saved South Australia from bankruptcy in the 1840s. It was the largest metal mine in the country employing 1000 people. Cornish and Welsh miners flocked to Burra to work for the South Australian Mining Association and some set up homes in dugouts hewn out of the banks of the Burra Creek. We enjoy a tour here before the last leg of today’s journey. We base ourselves for the next five nights at the delightful Clare Country Club, an award winning property with splendid views overlooking lush fairways of the adjacent golf course and the sparkling waters of Inchiquin Lake.

EXPLORING AROUND CLARE

This morning, we begin our day getting to know the town and region a little better as a local guide joins us on the coach this morning for a sightseeing tour. Next, step back into South Australia's pioneering past at Bungaree Station. Established in 1841, it became the headquarters to an extensive sheep station with 100,000 merino sheep by the 1880s. Today, some 160 years later, it is an efficient mixed farm run by the descendants of the original founder, G.C. Hawker. Consequently, Bungaree Station is not a museum, but rather a living record of rural Australia since 1841. We will enjoy morning tea here first before discovering more of the station’s story. From here we continue to the historic township of Mintaro to enjoy a delightful lunch and tour of Martindale Hall, immersing ourselves in the elegance of bygone days on a grand estate. A day in the Clare Valley wouldn’t be complete without a visit to a winery. At Sevenhill Cellars, the first winery ever built in the Valley and one of the oldest in Australia, we enjoy a tasting and free time to explore the grounds, taking in the spiritual history and peaceful atmosphere of this iconic winery site. After a wonderful day experiencing what this region has to offer, we return to the hotel to relax before dinner.

KERNEWEK LOWENDER FESTIVAL - MOONTA

Today, we experience the vibrant spirit of the Kernewek Lowender Copper Coast Cornish

Festival — the world’s largest Cornish festival, held biennially across the Copper Coast towns of Moonta, Kadina, and Wallaroo. First celebrated in 1973, the festival honours the region’s rich Cornish mining heritage with colourful parades, traditional music and dance, Cornish pasties, fairs, crafts and lively street entertainment. Today is the day of the Lowender Parade, a Grand Procession made up of local and visiting groups, clubs, organisations and businesses demonstrating their connection to both Cornish and local heritage. Moonta will host the Stret Fer, combining a mixture of traditional and contemporary offerings, including rides, food and beverage, and souvenirs. Traditional Cornish dancing will also be on display throughout the day.

KERNEWEK LOWENDER FESTIVAL - KADINA

Today, we head to Kadina to enjoy the festivities at the Rotary Village Fair. Roam the market stalls, enjoy the local produce, food trucks, amusement rides and entertainment. Experience Cornish traditions such as traditional Maypole and Furry Dancing, as well as competitions,

and more.

Making our way to Wallaroo for today’s festivities, witness the Kernewek Lowender Classic Cavalcade of Cars & Motorcycles. Beginning in Wallaroo, line the streets to see the spectacular classic Cars & Motorcycles as they cruise their way around the festival, travelling through Moonta and Pt Hughes to end in Kadina for the Show ‘n’ Shine.

CLARE TO HAHNDORF

We say farewell to Clare this morning and travel south through Gawler, then make our way into the Adelaide Hills to Birdwood to visit the National Motor Museum. The National Motor Museum is an international centre for the collection, research, preservation, education and display of Australian road transport history. More than a museum, it is a social history of the way we were, the way we are now and the way of the future. Passing through Lobethal, we enjoy lunch before we head to Hahndorf where we visit the Beerenberg Strawberry Farm. Here we’ll enjoy a talk and learn more about this six-generation family farm, followed by time to browse the shop filled with delicious homemade Australian jams, chutneys and sauces made right here. After checking into our hotel in the main street, the rest of the afternoon is free to explore this wonderful Adelaide Hills village.

HAHNDORF TO HORSHAM

This morning, we leave the Adelaide Hills and make our way to Coonalpyn. Here we can

admire the breathtaking images of five local children at play, painted on the town’s 30m-high Viterra grain silo by artist Guido Van Helten. Keith is our destination for lunch today and this afternoon, we make our way to Horsham for our final night on tour.

HORSHAM TO MELBOURNE

Before we depart this morning, we’ll take a look at Horsham’s silos, titled “Yangga Dyata”, which means “Walking on Country”. We now make our way to Murtoa to see a breathtaking mural featuring a flock of brightly coloured birds. The artwork is inspired by the James Hill taxidermy collection, combined with the discoveries of Dr John Cade, a psychiatrist who made significant contributions to the understanding and treatment of bipolar disorder. No visit to Murtoa would be complete without visiting the incredible Murtoa Stick Shed. Previously known as the Murtoa No. 1 Grain Store, it is the only remaining emergency grain store built during World War Two. This structure is an enduring testament to iconic Australian bush ingenuity and a symbol of the growth and strength of the Australian wheat industry. We’ll be amazed by what we see as we are taken on a tour. Our final silo on our art trail is in Rupanyup; the silos’ original artwork faded, but 2025 saw renowned artist Smug breathe new life into the site. The new mural explodes with colour and detail, depicting local youth in tribute to rural sport and togetherness. After lunch, we drive back to Melbourne where, as always, our chauffeurs will be waiting to take us straight to our very door – a delightful way to finish our time away and all part of the great O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours service!
