FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WELCOME

O’Shannessy’s Quality Tours believes that discovering new destinations is one of life’s most profound experiences, where the magic of each place is felt not only through the eyes but also through the heart. Our own tour designers have researched this tour with our O’Shannessys’ passengers in mind.

WEATHER

July is one of the better months to visit Singapore, with warm tropical weather and slightly less rainfall than many other times of the year. Average temperature: 25–31°C. Humidity: High (around 80%+), so it feels warmer than the actual temperature. Rain: Short, heavy afternoon thunderstorms are common, but they usually pass quickly rather than lasting all day. Sunshine: Expect a mix of sunshine and clouds, with around 12 hours of daylight.

CURRENCY

The local currency in Singapore is the Singapore Dollar (SGD), represented by the symbol S$. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted and ATM machines are available but could incur transaction fees. Check with your local bank about the best card to take with you.

    MELBOURNE TO SINGAPORE

Welcome to our wonderful 8 day Singapore tour! With chauffeured pickup from home, we travel to Melbourne Airport where we’ll be greeted by an O’Shannessy’s Quality Tour Director who will assist us with check in for our morning flight direct to Singapore. On arrival into Singapore this afternoon we are welcomed by our local guide and coach who will transfer us to our accommodation at the Orchard Hotel nestled within Orchard Road, the heart of the shopping belt. This is the perfect place to unwind and rest from our flight, so no further arrangements have been made today except to meet this evening for our dinner. This will be our base for the duration of our time in Singapore, so no need to repack again until we depart for home.

    GETTING TO KNOW SINGAPORE

After a delicious breakfast we commence our exploration of Singapore. We begin our day with a comfortable introduction to Singapore’s colourful heritage visiting Kampong Glam, passing Little India and Chinatown this morning. Our guide will provide commentary on the history and development at the former Malaya Command Headquarters, today this is known as the Legends Hotel on Fort Canning Hill, where we also have lunch. This afternoon, we return to our hotel which is surrounded by beautiful shopping. We have some free time to explore or take a rest before freshening up as we are heading out this evening. We’ll be able to see all of the Marina Bay area on one of the world’s largest Observation Wheels, The Singapore Flyer, followed by dinner at a local restaurant. Our transfer has us back at the hotel just after 10pm.

  • DAY 3: Saturday 3rd July, 2027

    CULTURAL EXPLORATIONS

Our coach meets us this morning for our guided tour of Peranakan Museum in the Katong district tucked away in the eastern corner of Singapore. We view popiah rolling, beading and dumpling demonstrations. We also discover Peranakan culture as we stroll past heritage shophouses, quaint stores and eateries. Peranakans are the descendants of Chinese or Indian immigrants who married indigenous people from the Malay Archipelago in the 15th century. Their legacy is best seen in Joo Chiat. This is one of the country’s best foodie destinations so is the perfect place to find a lunch venue that whets our appetites. Don’t eat too much though as next, we get ready for another highlight - our High Tea in the Tiffin Room at the Raffles Hotel is certainly one of these. After our high tea, we return to our hotel to freshen up. This evening will be another definite highlight as we make our way to Gardens by the Bay located at the edge of Marina Reservoir. Spanning a huge area, this award winning horticultural attraction houses over 250,000 rare plants with two unique conservatories being the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. The area we cover tonight is large so we take the shuttle service offered to get from one spot to another. We will be amazed by the Supertrees which are vertical gardens that combine a multitude of functions and work as environmental engines for the gardens. Dinner tonight at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel.

Once again, we have some free time this afternoon. Early evening, we cruise along the Singapore River on a traditional Bum Boat ride. Feast your eyes on glitzy Clarke Quay and take photo opportunities of the Merlion and the iconic Marina Bay Sands. We enjoy a seafood dinner this evening at a local restaurant.

Next, we continue our touring to Sentosa Island where the trip to get there will be an adventure itself as we take the Cable Car over the island giving us a bird’s eye view of what we have in store for the day. Upon arrival onto the island our first visit is to S.E.A. Aquarium, the worlds’ largest aquarium and Marine Life Park. After a morning of wonderment viewing a multitude of underwater creatures, we will be hungry. Lunch has been left free for us to choose from the many outlets available.
